HW Design Layers

Yes - HW Designs was born to explore nature in art and art in nature, capture and highlight the beauty in the natural world and culture, and share its essence through creativity and education. But, what does that look like?

Digital illustration is one main component. It is the medium I use most often, but the art platforms for me don't stop there.

Trash Art (in photo made of plastic bags and phone book pages), photography, graphic design...all art forms that I like to use. Some are stronger than others, but it keeps my brain engaged as I also love to learn something new.  

The Hilo Pop-Up Art Show happens once a year (opening the first Friday of Novemeber) and allows me to play and venture out into those other layers of my creative self. Over 15 artist this year exploring and showcasing the mediums they love while raising money for an organization that pours life and support into the lives of families and kids that are in therapeutic foster care. I had the privilege of working with Catholic Charities Hawaii's Nā 'Ohana Pūlama program full time for almost 3 years before I decided to shift my job title to artist. (If you are in the Hilo area please come and say "Hi").

Pushing the normal ways that I create into new territory, I am grateful I get to be a part of this event. I imagine as year two of HW Designs comes to a close there will be more layers discovered and new ideas born. Hope you will stay tuned!
